We all know how hard it is to keep the Juniors' Fife and Drum Camp going. It is especially important now as the recent troubles in the economy seem to be hitting everyone, everywhere. The camp not only relies on tuition and an all volunteer staff to keep going, it also relies on donations from you.

About the Camp
The Company of Fifers and Drummers Junior Fife and Drum Camp is offered each year to ensure that the quality and scope of fifing and drumming continues to improve, expand, and prosper. This is accomplished through the use of instructional workshops, which provide junior drum corps members with the tools needed to increase their knowledge in various aspects of fifing and drumming. All workshops are conducted in a friendly, open, and professional manner to provide a positive experience for all.

2009 Highlights
• The program will run Tuesday through Friday, and conclude with a performance at the Friday night tattoo at the Deep River Muster.

• A day camper program for those who live locally and do not wish to overnight at the camp is available.

• The Drum Major program will run Tuesday through Friday

• Campers can qualify for the Advanced Musicians program, which is designed to provide a more intense educational focus. Individuals qualifying for this sub- group will be given the challenge of specially written fife & drum Solos that will be performed as part of the stand piece. Responsible, capable, and friendly chaperones and staff.

• Comfortable, spacious classrooms and ample outdoor practice space.

• Evening recreational activities, concerts and crafts. Musical Program

• Music books provided for each camper, which will include jam tunes and camp performance pieces.

• Appearance at the famous Deep River Ancient Muster Tattoo allows campers to showcase their camp accomplishments.

• Standpiece allows campers of all ability levels to participate fully in the performance, which will also include advanced small ensemble pieces for the more seasoned players.

• Standpieces will be available online, and by US mail, so participants can practice prior to camp.

• Instructional program focuses on improvement of playing and performance skills, and music-reading ability.


Incarnation Center



Location
• Camp will be held at The Incarnation Center in Ivoryton, Connecticut, located between Saybrook and Westbrook. The town is easily accessible from Interstate Route 95 and Route 9. (info@incarnationcenter.org)

Age Requirements
• Camp is open to those musicians who have completed fourth grade at the time of camp, up to and including those who are members of the class of 2009.
• Maximum age is 18.

Registration Information
• Each Camper will need to submit an Audition Video to allow the staff to place the Camper in the appropriate instructional group. The Audition Video may accompany registration or you can mail in at a later date but before April 1st. Please make sure to include your name on the video.

Audition Video must be part of this Registration packet and Advanced Musician qualification will be assigned based on remaining availability.

2009 Rates
Early Bird registration – completed form, recommendation from Corps Director and registration fee must be received by February 28, 2009
- Full camp $235.00
- Drum Major $230.00- runs for full camp.

Regular registration – from March 1, 2009 through June 1, 2009
- Full camp $250.00
- Day camper $150.00

Late registration – after June 1, 2009
- Full camp $275.00
- Day Camper $175.00
Special Information for Travelers
• Deep River is approximately 10 minutes from the camp location.

• There are a number of car rental agencies in the area.

• Ivoryton, and the surrounding towns, have numerous reasonably-priced restaurants and hotels for visiting families.
